My internship days BHU: An experience

These were the days when I first experienced the entire structure of the organizations related to the field I sought my career in. These were the days when I first observed the ins and outs of the work culture of those organizations. And, these were the days when I first became the part of those organizations. In short, My internship days (May-June, 2009).

Hindustan Times, Varanasi (May, 2009)

“Welcome to the world of HT”. These were the words of the in-charge of Hindustan Times, Varanasi, on the first day of my internship at the bureau office. He ensured proper guidance and cooperation for me from him and other members of the team HT in the city. The first day meeting with him boosted my confidence up but the things were not so easy.

Actually, they didn’t have enough time to spend with interns. And the interns were not allowed even to come in the office regularly. They could talk to the concerned person, only if they had some concrete development on the assignment story allotted to them.

Again, the concerned persons were too busy to talk to interns. They asked me to work on the HT City and most of my work was related to field activities. According to the in-charge of the bureau office, all of my stories, which I did during my internship with them, they had sent to the regional office, Lucknow.

However, he was not able to explain what happened to those stories after that. He said, they liked those stories though I never got a chance to see them on the white paper. They had the same excuse. “We have sent them but their publishing would be decided by concerned persons sitting in regional office,” he said.

Sahara Samay, Lucknow (June, 2009)

It turned to be a very learning experience while working at the bureau office of Sahara Samay, Lucknow. In proper guidance of field experts, I learned a number of working aspects of electronic media, during my internship here. I went to around 20 news story shoots, wrote scripts on every shoot. Further, I sent feeds to the head office in Noida, handling among many other works.

I learned in studio about working and uses of various equipment like camera, lights and audio-visual mixture, and other things. Among other experiences, I coordinated with the production work, and I was a part of a public conversation programme too. I gained knowledge on role of distribution and marketing departments in a media organization and finally submitted my project report.

The bureau chief and other crew members always appreciated me for the stories I did those days. He acknowledged my work saying, “I would like to give some more marks for the work you have done here”. Other senior reporters expressed their happiness about taking me to shoots with them. They appreciated me for the scripts I wrote based on the shoots.

My internship days BHU

These were the days when I first learned about entire working atmosphere of a journalism and mass communication organization. Overall, I had a superb experience during My internship days.
