Krishnamurti Study Centre Varanasi
“If they are not getting peace and freedom at home, they cannot achieve it in any part of the world”, says the caretaker of Krishnamurti Centre. The Foundation claims to take people to the path of peace and freedom. Both of them remain inside human but people tend to search it all over the world maybe since their birth.
The city branch of the foundation is situated at Raj Ghat in Varanasi. Further, the foundation runs many schools and colleges in the city, including Vasanta Mahila Mahavidyalaya at Raj Ghat. The study centre is located in the house, in which Krishnamurti lived during his annual visits.

Furthermore, having a glance of the green environs of the campus, you sense immediately a feeling of peace and freedom. Also, that remains with you all through your times-spent at this place. People from all over the world come here in the search of peace and freedom. And perhaps they get them both at this study centre, that teaches to search them within yourself.
“Need not to go anywhere in the search of peace and freedom, which remain inside us. Need is to search it in our own”, the caretaker adds. Moreover, set as a high-rise structure overlooking River Ganga, the campus has a guesthouse and some cottages attached to this retreat.
A sense of peace and freedom
Stepping in from the main gate of the Krishnamurti Foundation campus, we also observed a sense of peace and freedom. We never felt them amidst this competitive and cacophonous city life. Nonetheless, the well-constructed garden filled with trees and plants never give someone a moment to think about the outside world.
The Banaras-based study centre of Krishnamurti Foundation consists of a library and a mini-archive. Apart from offering the usual learning facilities, Krishnamurti Study Centre has also a translation and publication cell. Here, Hindi, Bengali, and Urdu translations of its study material are available for the seekers.
