Jammu and Kashmir encounters
Terrorist activities are meeting no full stop even after a year of abolition of Article 370 and 35A in Jammu & Kashmir. Pakistan-backed terrorism is still getting native support to carry on disturbance in the valley. However, our security forces are quite active, with busting every next plan of the terror suppliers in the region.
J&K security forces have killed over 160 militants in eight months of 2020, compared to total 157 terrorists killed in year 2019. However, of total militants killed in encounters so far this year, not more than 20 were from Pakistan. This was a 50 percent drop from last year’s number. Jammu and Kashmir encounters
Jammu and Kashmir police today said that it has solved Pandach militant attack case, after arresting five terrorists in Srinagar. The police also seized two ambulances and two two-wheelers, allegedly used to convey attackers into Srinagar from south Kashmir.
Five uncategorized militants of ISJK, who helped in transporting, logistics, planning and executing the Pandach attack, have been arrested, said a police spokesperson. Security forces seized four vehicles, including two private ambulances functioning at SKIMS, a bike and a scooty, he said.
The arrest relates to the terrorist attack case, which saw two BSF jawans on duty killed and their weapons snatched by motorcycle-borne militants on May 20 on the outskirts of Pandach city. The security forces cordoned off the area immediately, and search operation was on since to track the attackers.
Same day encounters in J&k
Search operation turned into encounter in Yedipora village in Pattan area of Baramulla, killing three terrorists and injuring three officers. Security forces were carrying on a search operation, and militants fired upon them. Three unidentified terrorists were killed in the gun-battle between joint security forces and militants, said a spokesperson.
The exchange of fire injured an Indian Army officer and two special police officers, he further said. The security forces gave terrorists, trapped in a house, a chance to surrender, but they refused. The militants held two families of 12 members, including children, as hostage at the house. The forces rescued the hostages and evacuated them to safer place, the officer said.
Meanwhile, another encounter broke out in Babhaar area of Pulwama district, when terrorists opened fire on security forces, said official. The gun-fight went on between the security force party and militants without any report of casualties on either side.
Other recent encounters
Earlier this week, a policeman in the line of duty was killed, and three terrorists were shot dead in an overnight encounter on the outskirts of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. The exchange of gunfire broke out when militants attacked check-post of joint team of J&K police and CRPF at Panthachowk. The terrorists attacked in an attempt to snatch their weapons.
Last week, security forces killed four terrorists in a gun-battle in Kiloora village of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir. Joint operation of army police and paramilitary CRPF is rare in JK as one of the terrorists surrendered to police.
In an encounter that broke out on August 20 around the orchards of Kheeri area at Tindim village check-post in Baramulla district, security forces killed three Lashkar-e-Taiba militants. However, four security personnel, including an SPO, two CRPF constables and a soldier, also had to lose their lives in the exchange of gunfire.
A day earlier, the security forces averted a major tragedy as they timely detected and defused an improvised explosive device. The militants had planted IED under a bridge between Tujan and Dalwan in Pulwama of south Kashmir, said a cop. Security forces are extremely active in Jammu & Kashmir.
