Here is ‘Life ka Mantra’, ‘It’s Hot’, ‘Jhoomo Jam ke Jhoomo’! Youth of the city is almost mad about these slogans. A number of boys and girls can be seen with earphones in their ears, while driving vehicles or walking on foot. They keep listening FM while chatting with friends in parks or cafes, strolling through the malls, working on desks or studying in libraries or even in classrooms.
Youth, these days, finds FM radio most portable and desirable source of entertainment and information. Here, they have every reason to follow this new trend. “I find no other means that gives full-on entertainment and informs as well, wherever you are, even on the go,” says Suhani Gidwani, an MBA student.

Not more than three years back, radio meant none other than All India Radio in Varanasi. And then at least three private FM radio channels entered into the city. They instantly grabbed attention of their favorite audience – youth. Since then, Radio Mirchi, Radio Mantra and S FM have been offering a big variety of musical fantasy. Also, they are offering local and universal information through their verbose radio jockeys.
Further, since their Inception in the city, many programmes, slogans and RJs (Radio Jockeys) have become immensely popular in the city. ‘Miss Golmaal’ Garima and ‘Jhankaar Beats’ Anshul on Radio Mantra; ‘Khubsoorat’ Pinki and ‘Total Filmi’ Shashank on Radio Mirchi; and ‘Ye Tara Wo Tara’ Ria and Pappu ‘Banarasi’ on S FM; these all have made the city youth crazy about their rocking words and soothing voices.
Infotainment, wherever you go
Furthermore, from railway updates to cricket scoreboard and traffic condition of the city and whatnot is available, along with an ultimate musical diet. Also, youngsters are rocking with the miracle of this information and entertainment fusion. “It’s good to be entertained at your workplace. It simply rejuvenates us and gives us a new strength to work, work and work,” says Sameer Chaddha, an architect.
Moreover, mobile phones are now in almost every hand, making radio accessible for almost everyone. Even, this FM availability on cell phones has made all the enjoyment easier to get by. Meanwhile, this easy mode of entertainment bucks up the youth. And youth of the city falls in love with Radio FM.
