BHU convocation ceremony

The award for ‘the most refreshing experience of the month’ goes to ‘Convocation 2011’ of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Convocation invitation came this month and took us far from the hectic daily schedule of our professional life. Having been invited from BHU to attend convocation 2011, we started to arrange everything for that.

This included taking leave from our offices and getting seats reserved in a train to Varanasi. Finally, everything was on the boat and we were on the way to the ancient city. How could we allow ourselves to slip one single moment of enjoyment??? So, celebrations started in the train itself and remained continued even after reaching Varanasi.

Now, all of us were together again to share the memorable moments of those days when we were pursuing the master’s in mass communication degree course and we were ready to create some more lovely moments. However, some of our batch-mates were missing from the grand celebration. They missed it and we missed them.

Amid all the celebrations and enjoyments, the day of convocation came when we were putting on our convocation gowns. How great the moment was! Really, we were in the convocation gowns. We were clicked while receiving degree from the Dean of the Arts Faculty, then again snapped while standing or sitting, solo or in group, while throwing convocation cap in the air and yes, again and again, with different angles in convocation gowns. How great the moment was!

The next day, again some of us were at the venue on time, and I was one of them, to hear the speech of the honorable Vice President of India Hamid Ansari, chief guest of the BHU convocation 2011. Again, I was a part of a great moment! And again we enjoyed our day with full zeal and happiness inside us. But every beginning comes with a certain end. Convocation ceremony ends here. And every end goes with a definite beginning. Celebration still continues.

Full-on fun time

We, as friends from the same batch, watched movies and had parties. And most importantly, we had a lot of fun together after a long time. This was the time when some of us had to move. They would move to their hometowns or back at work in next three days. I had prepared to stay in my hometown Varanasi for a few more days. I had taken leave only for three days and got approval for work-from-home for some more days. And I wanted to stay at home till the upcoming festival Holi.

Meanwhile, once again, I went to the mass communication department of BHU, and saw teachers. I also saw some seniors and many juniors from my dept. My juniors warmly welcomed me and pulled me into their Holi celebration. That was another lovely moment of this great holiday package. Another worth mention thing is to be at home. Staying at home always gives a proper relaxation from the tiresome life of the outside world.

Staying at home

Just after the day of Holi festival, I moved back to my workplace New Delhi. I was in the train to national capital, remembering all joy we had in this journey, when we were together. I was remembering all the leisure I got when I was at home. Also, I was remembering all the memorable moments I lived during the convocation visit.

Reaching Delhi, I again came across the same hectic life, work pressure and all. But if there was something new, or seemed to be new, was the energy that I had regained during the convocation visit.
