Jean Hagen was an American actress who had a promising career in Hollywood during the 1950s. She is perhaps best known for her role as Lina Lamont in the iconic musical film “Singin’ in the Rain.” However, despite her early success, Hagen’s life and career took a downward spiral in the years that followed.
Born in 1923 in Chicago, Hagen began her career as a stage actress before transitioning to film in the 1940s. She landed her breakthrough role in 1952 as the long-suffering wife of James Dean’s character in “East of Eden.” Two years later, she was cast in “Singin’ in the Rain,” which became one of the most beloved musicals of all time.

Her first marriage ended in divorce after just two years, and her second husband died of a heart attack shortly after their wedding.
