You meet daily a number of people, including family, friends, relatives, neighbors, colleagues, clients and many who were just strangers to you before some moments. There are some whom you meet regularly, nearly every day, while others on frequent intervals. Others see you once in a while and many people meet you only once or twice in a lifetime. Among them, how many people may be there whom you made smile someday?
In other way, how many people have made you smile someday in lifetime? You cannot count but you have all the right to know the factors responsible for making you or others smile. It every much depends on the mood, attitude and mutual chemistry of the people meeting each other at any time. Sometimes, a simple hi or bye is enough to make someone smile. While, at other times, it takes long to make a space of smile between two people.
The science of gratitude
Here, we are telling you something that almost never fails to make you happy and bring smile on the face of one who hears from you. And that is gratitude. How many times you say thank you to your near and dear ones? How many times you thank to someone stranger for little reason? A study of University of Pennsylvania done in 2005 says, the way we show gratitude is among the greatest contributing keys to overall happiness in life.
As per this study, you can experience an apparent difference in your life by just three expressions of “Thank You” to someone each day. Just two words of thank you can make you and many other people happier. Going by this rule, if more and more people express gratitude to others, we can say, so many of us can lead a happier life. Expressing gratitude is happiness
- More words to say: For genuine feelings, saying thanks or thank you is enough, but you have more expressive words. You can tell them how you “appreciate” their care for you. Or maybe say, how “grateful” you are for the support they brought.
- A hand-written letter: If there is still a lot to say or express your gratitude towards someone, take a pen and paper and write a short note and give them. A step further, you can even express your gratitude to them by writing a long letter of thanks.
- A public announcement: At an event, you can tell everybody that how you are thankful for someone who stood up for you at all the good or bad times of life. You may share your good review about someone and tell others about the person’s traits.
More ways to thank them
- A creative expression: Show your real talent. You can make a painting, a musical video or audio, a slideshow of memories. Or create a printed picture album, a homemade gift, or a dinner or lunch date. Monetary value never matters in true expression.
- Forgive them for past: Past is not important now as you are grateful for their deeds in the present. You must forgive them for the time they hurt you in past, and give way for a stronger future bond. Besides, they will realize your efforts for sure.
- Connect two friends: If you see a reason why two people can have a real bond in life, come forward to introduce them to each other. You will be happier if you see them developing romantic or platonic relationship with each other someday.
