How To Make a Chicken Kiev

If you’re looking for a delicious and elegant meal to impress your guests, chicken Kiev is an excellent choice. This classic Russian dish consists of a chicken breast that is stuffed with butter and herbs, then coated in breadcrumbs and baked or fried until golden and crispy. Despite its fancy appearance, making chicken Kiev at home is surprisingly easy and requires only a few simple ingredients.

Here’s a guide on how to make Chicken Kiev:

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.
  3. Place each chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them until they are about 1/4 inch thick. Be careful not to make any holes in the chicken.
  4. Place a tablespoon of the butter mixture in the center of each flattened chicken breast.
  5. Fold the chicken over the butter mixture, tucking in the sides to create a neat package.
  6. Season the outside of the chicken with salt and pepper.
  7. Place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs in three separate bowls.
  8. Dip each chicken breast first in the flour, then the beaten egg, and finally the breadcrumbs. Make sure the chicken is completely coated in each layer.
  9. Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
  10. Add the breaded chicken breasts to the hot oil and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  11. Once the chicken is browned, transfer it to a baking sheet and place it in the preheated oven.
  12. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the butter is melted.
  13. Serve the Chicken Kiev hot and enjoy!

Note: You can also use a deep fryer instead of a frying pan to fry the chicken if you have one. Make sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for best results.

Once your chicken is cooked to perfection, it’s time to serve and enjoy! Chicken Kiev pairs well with a variety of sides, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a simple green salad. You can also drizzle some lemon juice over the chicken or serve it with a side of garlic aioli or sour cream for added flavor.
